My Haiku:

“Over the wintry

forest, winds howl in rage

with no leaves to blow.”

- Natsume Souseki

(Good Reads, n.d.)

Inspiration:

"The Book Thief" by Markus Zusak.

I used the key theme of death to create this poster.

Haiku "World Building":

(a). When, where and who?

- Child, little girl

- Death

- Empty snowy mountains

- Throughout the day

(b). What is the environment like? Light quality, weather and sound?

- Snowy weather

- Quiet sounds

- Foggy light

- Small village

Key 3 Moments:

1. Girl chases animal to play but gets lost

2. Someone comes to save her and carries her away

3. The twist/reveal is that he is Death and the girl is dead

Expanding on Storyboard

Received critique from my group and decided to improve my storyboard by researching different angles for each shot and adding colour. Also improving the story as it can get confusing in the last 5 shots.

- Explored different angle shots, composition (rule of thirds)

- Colour used as a sailience

Creating the Poster:

- White and black = life and death

- black trees because they are dead from winter

- Black also used as salience for Death since he is the main twist

Final Poster:
